Mountain Bike School

Neven Steinmetz

I am a chemical engineering girl turned pro gravitymountain biker, and live in the amazing town of Boulder, CO. Istarted racing downhill and mountain cross 3 years ago, and can't remember whatI did with my summers before I was racing! Riding and racing mybikes is my passion and love. It doesn't matter if I'm doing casual shuttle runs, pinned raceruns, cross country rides, or dirt jumping, I just love riding my bike, allyear round. I also love teaching people, especially helpingwomen get more involved with mountain biking, with everything from technical skills to basic bike maintenance.

Fouryears ago I was hit by a car while I was out training on my road bike. The accident screwed my hip up pretty badly. I've had surgery and gonethrough over a thousand hours of rehab and therapy for my hip. I'm prettysure it's never going to feel like it did before the accident. I couldlet this unfortunate event keep me from riding my bike, but instead I use theaccident as a reminder that your life can change in an instant, and you neverknow when that might happen, so you have to live each day to the fullest, enjoying every minute that you can. For me this happens when I am on mybike, loving life, having fun with my friends, and smiling as much as I can!!
